Rainbow over Telefomin
On one of my (Ryan’s) last flying days before Christmas, I was on a turn-around, having just dropped off a load of passengers in Telefomin and about to take another load out again, when I spotted this rainbow hanging over our home!

Advanced Airstrip Training
There are only 2 training pilots currently in PNG and, thanks to COVID, it is really hard to get any others in country. As such, we didn’t think Ryan would be able to get his Advanced Airstrip Training (AAT) done this year. However, Ryan’s boss, Brad (pictured), the Flight Operations Manager, decided that getting Ryan through this training and able to fly into a few more airstrips was high priority.
Brad kindly left his family in Goroka and came to Telefomin for 2 nights to train Ryan towards the end of Nov. So now Ryan is able to fly to more locations and help more remote & isolated people. Thanks Brad!
Re-living our Dating Days
When we were living in Mt Hagen and dating back in 2016, we used to go to the “Kofi Kave” for lunch time dates occasionally. There aren’t many options to go out when you’re dating in Mt Hagen, so we had to make the most of every opportunity. They have a lovely fish pond and a small aviary so it felt like a like a little piece of paradise just a short walk from the hustle-and-bustle of the airport.
There are NO dating options outside our house in Telefomin, so when we were staying in Hagen back in October, we thought we would pop back to the Kofi Kave for a date-lunch!
Half way through Quarantine!
We’ve been in quarantine for a week, just 7 days left until we can go for a walk outside and Ryan can start flying again!
We left Canada a week ago!
And what a busy week it’s been, traveling around the world!
We are now comfortably in quarantine where we will stay until midnight on 1st September. We’re still suffering from jet-lag, despite staying in hotels en-route, but Ryan has started studying for his flight tests and Shiv has started some of her work too.
Thank you all again so much for your amazing support and encouragement over the past couple of months!
Two Flights down, two to go…
We have safely made it to Hamad International Airport, Doha, Qatar! We’ve been up for almost 24 hours straight, but we’re trying to get our body clocks on PNG time.
We have a 27 hour layover here in Doha before we catch our next flight to Kuala Lumpur, so we’re heading to the airport hotel shortly. We don’t have to collect our baggage here, but that means we have no guarantees that our bags made it here with us…

Checked-in for our 1st flight, Calgary-Montreal.
We’re checked in and through security in Calgary airport. Our first flight is due to depart at 11:55.
It’s such a relief to be taking this first step home, towards PNG!!!

Please continue to pray for us as we travel over the next 4 days until we reach Mount Hagen on Wednesday 19th August (God willing!) and start our quarantine in the MAF accommodation. Please pray that all of our baggage travels with us on each leg of our journey!
We are also still waiting for our COVID test results to come through… Please pray!!!
Latest COVID-19 Test
We took our 3rd COVID test this afternoon, not because we’ve had symptoms, but because PNG requires a negative test result within 7 days of departing Canada. Our previous tests were negative, but they were too long ago to be valid.
Please pray these results come through by FRIDAY as we can’t enter PNG without a print-out to say we are negative! Thanks!
URGENT PRAYER REQUEST!
To all our praying friends,
We just got a phone call to say we would be denied boarding on one of our flights due to new travel restrictions allowing only 30 passengers per flight landing in Australia.
We have since had confirmation that we are booked on all of our flights but this has left us rather shaken up about the possibility of getting stuck en route…
Please PRAY that we do not hit anymore bumps in the road and we would be allowed to board each of our 4 flights without further issue. Thank you!
