Traditional PNG Craft

Bilum weaving has been passed down from mother to daughter for generations in Papua New Guinea. A while ago, I (Shiv) asked my local friends who attend the Ladies’ Fellowship Group at our Church, to bring their Bilums so I could film how they are made, in order to share a part of this traditional craft with you. Scroll down and click to watch the video (2.5 mins).

I’m hoping to get a few more lessons in Bilum weaving when I have some time available. I’ve had lessons before, but it was rather confusing involving a technique with 6 needles, so my friends from the Ladies’ Fellowship promised to teach me a basic technique using only 1 needle. Something to look forward to! :-D
