An update on our Travels…

We found out early yesterday morning that our flights this weekend were cancelled. The subsequent 24 hours has been a flurry of emails trying to find out why, cancelling existing plans and making new ones.

As of now we have a booking to fly from Malaysia direct to PNG on a humanitarian Charter flight departing Tuesday 18th August. We are still making arrangements to fly from Canada to Malaysia, and REALLY hoping that we will be able to use our existing flight credits, although in the current climate, that is unlikely. This is a great option as it cuts out the need to travel through Australia, as they have just announced that their restrictions on the number of international passengers allowed in will be extended until mid-October!

We also have our 4th COVID test booked for Monday 10th, but are a little concerned that if we have to leave Canada on Thursday 13th that we may not yet have an actual print-out of our test results. (We need a negative test within 7 days of departing Canada, so our test last week would not be valid.) It’s all very emotional!

So our prayer points now are:

  1. Our COVID test results would be negative and we would be able to get a print-out before we leave Canada.

  2. Our flights to Malaysia would be booked this weekend at MINIMAL additional cost to MAF!

  3. That we would be on these flights!!!

Thank you for all the encouraging words and prayers we have received, it’s so great to know we are not standing alone through this frustration!
