Unexpected weekend in Australia

Ryan & Shiv in Cairns

We enjoyed walking down the Esplanade on Cairns’ seafront and not being noticed!

The Ferry Flight of P2-MAF allowed us to take a long weekend in Australia on the cheap as MAF paid for Ryan’s airfare, so we only had to pay for a one-way airfare for Shiv plus accommodation. It’s been a little more challenging than we expected since we returned to PNG at the end of Aug, so a quick trip out and the little luxury of “normal” activities was a welcome respite.

We had Brunch at the Cairns Botanical Gardens and then went for a walk through a reserve next door. To be able to walk on good footpaths through nature, holding hands and not be noticed by others on the trail was the height of luxury. We also went to a Mall and did some shopping to pick up a few things you can’t get in PNG, like puppy food and Chocolate Oranges! 😉

We had an opportunity to visit with some old PNG friends whilst we were in the Mareeba area, and we saw others when we went to Church on Sunday!

Some pics of the return Ferry Flight of P2-MAF…
