Holiday Starts Today!
We are very blessed to be able to take our holiday this year on East New Britain, one of the islands off the north coast of PNG. MAF doesn’t fly out there, so in our years living here, we haven’t had the opportunity to see the volcanic islands.
Normally, in the 2 years in between visits back to the UK & Canada, we like to take a couple of weeks off outside of PNG, as living & working constantly cross-culturally adds a thin layer of stress to every day life. However, COVID has made that impossible, so we decided to take the opportunity to explore more of PNG’s rich and varied culture. We are really looking forward to a good rest, lots of fun and spending time with some very dear MAF PNG friends, Brandon & Sharlene, who are coming with us.
Yesterday, Ryan flew us from Telefomin to Mt Hagen, where MAF’s HQ is. This morning we dropped Ray off with his Aunty & Uncle who have kindly agreed to look after him, and now we are all checked in for our flight to Port Moresby, PNG’s capital. We’ll spend 1 night there then fly to Rabaul on East New Britain tomorrow. This trip is also allowing Shiv to do her first base visit at the MAF Base in Port Moresby, never a wasted opportunity!
